I don’t like that the minimum subscription term is one year. I would prefer a short term plan because I only need it when my dog is staying with a sitter
Update: 4/7/2025, I found a couple of other issues that are frustrating me. I still think this is a really good system, beyond the fact that the notification is too quiet and not adjustable, I find that sometimes my dog is CLOSE to the SAFE ZONE I have set for him, and the system won’t allow me to track or beep him unless his has passed the SAFE ZONE barrier. I know he’s on his way out, and would like STOP him immediately. Also, there is a frustrating lag time. Sometimes I KNOW (I know because I can see him, and sometimes I have been walking him and watched him) he has gone outside the SAFE ZONE and the system still tells me he’s still in the safe zone. I want to know immediately, so I can beep him right away. I updated the ap before adding these comments, hoping for improvement, but none of these problems were addressed. Why can’t these things be done? These changes would make this ap so much more effective. That would give it 5 stars. We have found this tracker/ap does exactly what we needed. It lets us know if our dog goes too far from our property, and (assuming I see or hear the warning) I can call the dog and literally watch him coming home. The problem is, and it’s a pretty big problem, the warning sound is very quiet, and is not changeable. Even if I have the phone with me or right next to me, if there is anything noisy going on at all, I can’t hear it. I have to hope I SEE it. It can’t be a difficult programming issue to be able to use the phone’s ringer options. Please do this.
Comparing to AirTags, Tractive tracker is a hundred percent win. Now I know where my cat goes and which part of the fenced yard isn’t isolated enough for her to squeeze out 😁
This app & GPS tracker are very good. I always know where Yoshi is. Discovered today that he’s using the storm drain system to travel the neighborhood. Avoiding having to cross any streets.
Slow response from gps
Being able to locate when your dog sneaks off for a walk by themselves, is great to know which direction to follow. Daily activity tracker is good to know we need another walk.
We have used tracker for the last 2+ years for our two dogs and one cat. Historically, it was very good. Once in a while it wouldn’t update as frequently as we would like, so we didn’t know when the dogs left the yard, but we could track them down pretty quickly once the tracker updated as out of safe zone. Unfortunately, when we added another tracker for a new kitty it just simply hasn’t worked right. The new one’s battery has almost 0 life and nearly useless. Looking at the history for both cats, the older cat travels a lot further outside of the home area way more frequently and for longer durations, the older tracker battery typically has lasted longer and I could quickly locate him even under the tree cover all year round. The new tracker hardly works at all. I have disconnected the tracker and reset the power, saving zone and nothing improves. Both cats can be together and the newer tracker shows offline. It just has horrible connectivity and burns up battery. Sometimes the tracker doesn’t even last two hours on a full charge. Now, the older trackers are performing poorly as well, maybe battery age? I have looked all over the FAQ’s with no luck and I tried reaching out to support a while back and zero response. I have rebooted our modem and router still no luck. I used to recommend Tractive to everyone I know with outdoor pets, now I tell them absolutely look at other options, they are not what they used to be. It’s so sad because they have helped me track my animals, reliably many times, but no more. Bottom line customer service is awful and there is no one to help when it’s not working.
I bought this 3 weeks ago for my Malinois X. I got the GPS XL. The accuracy is down to around 20 feet or so. I set my Geo Fence to mirror my property line. When she goes to the back fence, it shows her outside the “Safe Zone” and I showing her about 14-20 feet past the geo fence. Battery life is great. Yea, the device and subscribe a bit pricy in the beginning but it is very well worth it. I definitely recommend the attachment clips so you can attach the device to the collar. Not sure why they don’t come with it as it’s a necessity but they’re only a few dollars and you get a pack of 3.
Our Husky/GSD mix loves to chase things. Before Tractive we spent many an hour circling the neighborhood hollering her name. Now we get out the app and get her home in minutes.
My dog got away from me about 11:30pm. He took off down the road. Luckily, I was able to track him and have him in the truck in less than 5 minutes. Thank goodness for this tracker.
Really impressed with this product , the entire family enjoys watching our dog run the 80acres he has access to anytime . It’s became addictive watching where he goes when no one is around . Highly active hunting dog and have no had one issue with the product for what you pay .
We live on a small farm with family around us. I had to keep Loki chained when outside because he wants to visit when I don’t want him too. I hated that, I want him to run and explore, within reason. This tracker changed that! I can now let him out and monitor where he goes. I call him back home when he has left the virtual fence. My only complaint is the tracker is not as real time as I would like, often I get notification he left yard and he is pretty far already but I can see exactly where he is so that helps.
I liked using the “walk” activity to easily track the last time I took my pups out (the default activity history is kind of useless as it default shows all of the locations for the past 24 hours). Now I can’t track a walk activity without turning location services all the time! I get this might help precision, but I don’t want to allow location sharing even while not using the app.
Just ok. It’s great when it decides to work.
The peace of mind that attractive gives is PRICELESS
What a super piece of kit. It’s reliable and durable - many mountain bike rides and beach trips and it works so so well for tracking. Couldn’t recommend this more highly!!! If you want peace of mind and you also want to track your pooch this is the kit for your family
I adopted a runner bluetick hound / pit bull mix and she loves to escape and run. With this device I am able to find her easily if she manages to escape. Would highly recommend.
Got this tracker for my cat who roams outside. I wanted to see where she was going throughout the day. It works great and keeps track of Daisy very well! The collar has come off a couple of times, which I’ve since adjusted, and we were able to locate the collar quickly and easily. Love this and will buy another for my next cat.
i attached this to my kids coat when we visited NYC. works perfectly in subways, etc if worst case we got separated. hotspot history was fun to look at after the trip to remember where we went.
We live out in the middle of nowhere Montana with a hound that likes to be gone for 12+ hours at a time. It has been on him for 9 days now and still only at 56%. We are now able to track him where ever he is at anytime! Very handy!
Absolutely amazing and a giant relief to know I always know where my dog is. Especially for one that likes to wander and has been lost before. Wish I had known about this sooner!
I love that I can set a virtual boundary and let her roam free in my yard! When I want her to come back I just use the sound feature which vibrates her collar and plays a sound and she comes running back!
We have 2 Great Pyrenees which are know as Escape-enees in farming communities. Our oldest is a rescue, we are his 3rd maybe 4th home because he has an overwhelming desire to roam. I’ve been able to locate him precisely every single time he’s gotten out and I’m talking 6 miles deep into forests (a 15 minute drive) from our home. I pull right up to the location on the map and call his name and he comes running and hops in my jeep. Lifesaver.
This does exactly what everyone needs for a reasonable price. I have a husky that can go far if he’s in that frame of mind. Previous trackers I’ve used were intermitent at best. Live tracking works as it should and the music helps to remind my husky he’s lost his mind briefly.
We had reservations about letting our tripod cat outside. Tractive has helped us find him whenhe was trapped in an empty pool and couldn’t jump out. The safe zone feature lets us know when he’s wandered too far. The gps is pretty accurate though not 100% accurate but the blue tooth radar feature helps us to zero in on his location. Bonus points for the wellness score. It lets us track how much he sleeps and how active he is. Really for the price this product has so many great features. I highly recommend it to anyone who has an animal that might go outside.
Please make it easier to see all the zones in the zone edit screen. This way I can easily line up my go and no go zone and not have to go back and forth a million times. Also please allow the ability to add more points to a zone so that it can be tailored to property lines-And not need to make multiple zones to cover a bizzare property layout.
I love the product but the layout takes a little bit of exploring to figure out could be simpler and more user friendly. Three things that annoy me with the app is the radar function which uses the Bluetooth when your cat is nearby. The locator uses these blue rings telling you qualitatively how close you are but why not just have an arrow pointing in the direction of the device and a distance of how far you are much like how you use AirTags? Would be more useful. Secondly when you select the make sound button the gps sound is too quiet which is not helpful if your cat is hiding somewhere with lots of background noise such as near a busy road. Finally while I like the idea of saving battery if I want to find my cat with the live (gps) function I don’t want the app telling me oh she’s close to your house and have it disabled and not being able to over ride the battery saving function. If I say find using gps then the app should do that without question or pop ups. Thats the reason why I’m paying for this collar instead of Using an AirTag collar. Overall. Good idea for a product, gps collar does work well, App just needs tweaked for user friendliness. Get that fixed and this is 5 start product in my book!
The tracker works as it should, as advertised. The only drawback it that it isa little big/bulky. No bigger than similar products.
We live in a fairly road/traffic free neighborhood and have two dogs that like to go ‘adventuring’. The Tractive units work extremely well, GPS is usually dead on, even if they’re 1 - 2 miles or more away! It’s been exceptional help in a few dicey situations and the dogs wear them 24/7
My wife and I travel all around sightseeing and love taking Bickie with us on our trips. For a peace of mind we decided to get a tracker in case something happened to our baby. We kept researching and always came back to Tractive. Would highly recommend this tracker for anyone that is looking for a peace of mind like us. John S.
We are in a rural setting and it works great. Notifies us right away when our dog crosses the e-fence boundary. It’s great at tattling on adventurous dog!
Only had it for a few days but so far it does as advertised
I purchased Tractive about 3 years ago for my Aussie who ran away from home a couple of times. So far I’ve been very happy with consistency of work of the tracker. It also helps tracking my dog’s daily activity. So basically he’s wearing the tracker 24/7. Also great customer support. Highly recommended!
I bought this to replace my AirTags in hopes of finding a more reliable tracker. The product does a much better job at locating pets far away that might be out of iPhone range, but finding pets in their “safe zone” is annoying. Being in the safe zone prevents you from live tracking your pet. But the safe zone is so large that your pet can be out of Bluetooth connection range. There needs to be a forced override to find pets that are close to home. Additionally, it is difficult to switch between multiple pets. You can only switch which pet you are viewing from one page. There should be a more convenient way to toggle through your pets available on each page.
Love the trackers! I have 2. We live in a rural area and it gives me peace of mind to know that my boys are safe at home.
Best tracker I’ve ever used . Lasts over a month before I need to charge it . Love the app data on my pet too . Highly recommended product
Need more communication from Tractive people at times.
You can see wherever your pet goes!!!
I never leave reviews but have to for Tractive. Incredible product, incredible service. It’s so rare that something actually just *works* the way it’s supposed to and that’s Tractive. It does what it says it will do, and honestly even more. The peace of mind I get from having the tracker on my cat is honestly priceless. She’s a city cat that grew up on the streets and as soon as I got her I could tell she wasn’t giving up the outdoor life. Now we get the best of both worlds, plus with the tracker I know that she barely goes that far at all. :) also she’s lost her tracker many times and we’re always able to find it with the Bluetooth locator and sound feature! Do not hesitate!!! I did so much research and PROMISE you this is the best one. Thank you Tractive!!!
Works great as long as you’re actually with the tracker. But, as soon as I let my dog outside, if I don’t follow her, it loses connection. So, it’s pretty useless if you have to be with the tracker in order for it to track…🤔
The Tractive is a great device for small Cats. I have a 8 Lbs kitty and at first I thought it was too big and too heavy. I have the regular sized unit. Customer Service explained if I went with the reduced size unit battery life would suffer. I have had the full size for over a year and it works great on my small kitty. She adjusts to it in about 30 minutes. I have gone on trips for 10 days and in power saver mode (WiFi) it was still charged and operational when I returned home. Fantastic.
So thankful that I invested in Tractive GPS for my dog. She runs away with another dog when she is in season. 2 times this week I was able to drive right to her within minutes. Which is great as the weather here is below zero
I currently have three dogs with trackers. Works great. Have had to use when my shepherd took off and lead us right to him. I recommend it all the time.
The GPS doesn’t work well at all if you have any trees in your area. There’s a long delay and often our dog is 100 yards or more from where the tracker tells us it is. There have been a few times she’s gone into our danger zone (the road) but the Tractive doesn’t pick up on it until minutes later which is just plain sketchy. Lastly, we just asked to cancel our subscription about a month and a half into this year because of the issues above (our renewal for the full year was over the holidays and candidly we just didn’t notice it immediately). They told us they wouldn’t reimburse us for the balance of the year, which is 10 out of 12 months we won’t be using it any more. I just find that to be poor business practice. Makes so much sense, right, charge customers for not using your products. I don’t think that’s going to work out well in the long run. Tractive lost a customer and any chance of us recommending them ever again.
Very inexpensive way to track my puppy. Works perfectly.
My guardian dogs keep getting out and we couldn’t find where. I purchased this tracker and put it onto the instigator. The first day it showed me where and when he got out and was able to make the repairs to the fence that were needed. Best money I have ever spent on a gps tracker. It doesn’t need a SIM card. It comes with everything needed. You just have to purchase the subscription but that’s reasonable for a years subscription. Averages out to 12 dollars a month. I’m thinking about buying another one. The only down side is that if you dog is super active, you will need to charge it every night.
The tracker is too heavy to have my dog where all day long, because it’s so heavy she always finds a way to take it off. The subscription is also WAY too expensive.
This was a life saver for our outside/inside cat. It isn’t perfect and if you have spotty cell coverage it won’t do you much good. But if you have good cell coverage this ting is invaluable for keeping track of your pet. I would and have recommended this product to anyone looking for a way to track their cat or dog when outside.
App ok, but map for SE area of NM could be updated. It’s near three years old.
